New quilt block designs
Since I'm getting tired of the 'plain' square quilt block I've been searching for different quilt block designs. I've found some that I like that look to still be pretty simple to make. Now I'm anxious to get some fabric to try them out!

Went on a fabric shopping frenzy!
Well, I stopped at Jo-Ann Fabrics today and found some flannel for a few of the quilts. Quilt #11 will be backed with a burgandy flannel. Quilt #10 will be backed with a light pink flannel. Quilt #4 will be backed with a chocolate flannel. Quilt #1 will be backed with a camel flannel.
I'm waiting on payments for several things that I've been selling on eBay recently so once I get that I hope to be able to go back to Jo-Ann's next week and get some more flannel, yarn, and thread.
Jo-Ann's doesn't carry a peach flannel so I may use the camel or brown on those. They also don't carry a green flannel that goes with the green quilt tops so I need to find a complementary color for those as well. Having quilt tops that were made several years ago is proving to be quite interesting - those fabrics aren't made anymore so finding something to be even remotely a close match is quite interesting!
I also bought some burgandy cotton that really closely matches the burgandy in the quilt blocks that I have. I'm going to cut some sashing and see if I like the looks of it with the blocks. If I don't, I'll be back to the drawing board with the blocks.

Quilt Tops
These are the quilt tops that need to be finished with batting, backing, and tying. Quilts 1, 7, 10. and 11 are the larger 60" by 72" 'lap' quilts and the others are the smaller 48" by 48" 'baby' quilts. All of them are made with 6" blocks. I hope to be able to get at least one or two done a week unless I find a really good deal on batting and flannel. My camera didn't pick up Quilt 3's true color, it's actually a peach color, not blue!! Not sure why it did that to that one and the others came out ok.....

New Blog!
Well, after some thinking I've decided to add a blog so that anyone who's interested can follow the happenings around here. Currently I'm working on a green butterfly print lap quilt for Calleigh to use when she's downstairs to nap or watch tv with. Then I have a lime green quilt I'll be making that's a twin size for her. I also have some other butterfly print fabrics that will make at least two more quilts after that.
My mom gave me 13 finished quilt tops this last weekend. She just doesn't have the interest/finances to finish them now so she gave them to me to finish. I have 9 that are a 48" by 48" size and 4 that are 60" by 72". She used a sewing machine to put them together though. I'll be getting backing fabric and yarn as I can to get them finished and listed for sale.
And since she was in the 'giving' mood she also gave me a bunch of blocks that her grandma (my great-grandma) made so they're over 100 years old. I'd like to do something with them but I'm hesitant as the fabric seems to be rather fragile and definately not like anything that's made today!
She also gave me an almost finished top that my grandma had been doing when she passed away and several blocks that she never got put together. I'm going to make a nice queen size quilt out of the blocks, I'll put some sashing in between each block since there aren't a whole lot.
I'm also going to start experimenting with some different quilt block patterns. The square block is nice but I'm growing bored of doing just those and as a result I'm losing interest in those kinds of tops. Everything will still be stitched by hand, I'll just be using different patterns. I'll post some pictures soon.
